HITACHI Emulsion Tubes / Needle Jets
The Virago's carbs have an ability to wear out the "needle
jet" and cause excessively rich low rpm running - both at cruise and
at full throttle / low rpm. The Virago isn't the only bike that does
it - most big bore bikes will wear them out.
If your Virago is getting mileage in the 20 mpg range, I'd look at the
needle jet wear.

Factory Pro makes stock replacement needle jets (also known as "emulsion
tubes"). Improvements in the original design include hard surface nickel
plating.

The extension of the laboratory
for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed
in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940).
He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after
the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar
to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal
use but well preserved.
