dynojet dyno tuning
When running a vtx 1800 on a dynojet dyno, both the Main Fuel Map AND the stock Honda ecu's acc. map are activated, providing additional fuel.
The a/f ratio looks VERY rich and the power commander tuner will lean out the mixture to look good under very quick acc. rates - as the dynojet dyno sweeps are, with high torque / HP bikes.
In the real world, the bike does NOT accelerate as quickly as it did on a dynojet dyno and the fuel from the acc. map is not present - and the bike is actually VERY dangerously lean after being "tuned to an air fuel ratio".
Enough to scuff the pistons.
This is the very same dynojet dyno tuning problem that dynojet tuned / ZX10's have -
The bike accelerates quickly enough on a dynojet so that the Kawasaki ECU
activates its acc. fuel maps and the bike, even though properly tuned for
the real world, or when using an EC997 dyno, looks rich on a dynojet a/f ratio -
and the trained dynojet "operator" leans the main fuel mapping out - not
realizing that he is looking at the combined mixture of the main fuel and the
acc. fuel maps, together.

The extension of the laboratory
for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed
in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940).
He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after
the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar
to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal
use but well preserved. Edited to the tunes of Chemical Residue by Herbie Hancock. |
