XR1200 Fuel Injection Tuning In the "Land of the Midnight Dyno", we've managed to crack the proper method of tuning the awesome XR1200. Normally, on dealership level dynos, these bikes are tuned to "an Air Fuel Ratio" and something like 13.1:1 is proclaimed "correct". The bike is sent down the road. - But, it's been discovered that the "AFR" method isn't correct and essentially, if you are only looking at supposed "AFR", it's that at every point, you have to tune to a different (and unknown) "AFR" at every rpm and throttle point to get best power and smoothest performance. We tuned both of Michael Barnes' XR's just before the May 5th/6th AMA race at Infineon Raceway and optimized the fueling with a Vance and Hines FuelPak. Results were pretty good - picked up a couple of hp in different areas at full throttle - but more importantly for a rider, picked up 2-3 hp at part throttle, so coming off corners and in town riding will be improved. We can tune with Vance and Hines / VHR FuelPak and Power Commander and likely whatever device that's appropriate. All tuned to where the engine tells us that it wants to be - rather than telling the engine what "AFR" it "should want". Wheelsmith 415 472 4962 for appointment |

| The extension of the laboratory
for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed
in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940).
He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after
the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar
to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal
